Captain Ace...the totally out to lunch space adventurer....
I had a couple of adventures last night. Danny's still a bit heartbroken, so I went to cheer him up. However, on the way...

Evasion and Pursuit
Sometimes your brain takes an extended vacation to Bali.

In San Francisco, I was driving up Monterey toward the Sunset when I stopped at a red light. For some reason, though I stopped, I failed to register that I should remain stopped, so after a FULL stop, I started to go as if it was a stop sign. Midway through the intersection, I realize my error.

So halfway in the intersection, trying to back up, a POLICE car appears from the right, perpendicular to my car. The policeman just GLARES at me as I'm trying to roll back behind the line like a good boy. Now it's one thing if they idly glare at you, but he was practically hanging out the window to get a good look at me.

He turns to his right, meaning he's now in front of me heading away. Whew! The bad part is that he's going kind of slow, so I'm thinking he's gonna try to let me overtake him so he can get behind me and pull me over.

What I do is I make an immediate right turn, park in a 7-11 lot and get the hell out of there. On foot, I circle the block to make sure the cop car wasn't lying in wait. It was exciting! It was kind of like being at war.

So after determining that the cop car (code named Wolf One) wasn't lying in wait, I hump it on foot back to my car (code named Delta Patrol) and proceed to drive toward the Sunset.

Now, I know two things. Firstly, the cop may have guessed that I was trying to get to the Sunset. Secondly, from where I am, there's a major intersection that I have to go through in order to get there... a logical place for the cop car to wait if he REALLY wants to get me. Call me paranoid, but I take no chances. Before getting to that intersection (Yerba Buena and Portola), I park on a side street and get out on foot again to recon the intersection.

Sure enough, Wolf One was cruising by the intersection! With expert timing, I run back to Delta Patrol (my car) and drive through the intersection before Wolf One can come around and see me.

I make it to 19th Ave.....HOME FREE!

Comrade in Arms

So I called Danny to find out what he was going to be doing since I was going to be passing by his house that evening. He said he was going to "drown his sorrows". That freaked me out.

I'm not saying Danny is an alcoholic or whatever, but anytime you start drinking alcohol, or do any kind of substance to relieve any kind of emotional pain...well that's how it always starts. Alarm bells went off in my head.

So when he asked what I was doing that night, I said "Stopping you from drowning your sorrows."

After running an errand after evading that cop car, I stopped by Danny's house. We talked, laughed and played video games. Mostly we laughed a lot; nature's high. I never laugh so hard except when I'm with Danny (except that time Paul and I went to an Italian restaurant and thought of a million ways to mess with people...).

So while I was playing Episode III on Playstation, Danny sneak a beer. But he didn't get drunk or anything so I guess you couldn't call it a mission failure.

Danny is going to be okay. I pray for him every night.

it was during one of our infamous Davis trips...we just sat having dinner together thinking of all these exciting and innovative ways to disturb shit in that restaurant...
